Honda is the 5th largest automobile manufacturer in the world. Honda first established itself in the American car market in 1972 with the introduction of the Civic. American can manufacturers were slow to develop small, fuel efficient cars, giving the Honda Civic a head start. In 1982 Honda become the first Japanese automaker to build car plants in the United States. Honda's official tagline is "The Power of Dreams."
